Gen. Cunningham identifies the Ghakkars with Gangaridae of Dionysius & Tocharians. Robinson identified the Gandaridae with the ancient Yaudheyas. Rajay and Gakhars[edit]

According to babur pothwar at time of 1519 rulled by gakhars as hathi khan and tatar khan ,tatar khan khan was uncle of hathi khan and other than gakhars janjuas were the second power in pothwar (malik hast khan) was the janjua chief. tatar khan's headquarter was pharwala which is always been a gakhar shahi fort built over a hindu temple. And raja is a status or title just like prime minister.
