Slow-moving edit war[edit]

Three editors who have commented on this page all disagree with Rikster, who keeps on changing the date format to a format that is one other than the one set out by MOS. MOS is clear in this regard. Rikster is welcome, as he is trying, to change MOS. But until and unless Rikster gets the community to change MOS, I would ask that he pls not edit war on this page. Where his change lacks consensus support. And while MOS is clearly indicating a format other than the one Rikster prefers. I would ask that he please take this as a final warning. There is no good reason to edit war, continue to impose a format that lacks consensus among the editors of this page, and that continues to lack support by MOS -- just the opposite.

MOS:YEAR states:

"Year ranges... sports seasons spanning two calendar years should be uniformly written as 2005–06 season....
A closing ... year is normally written with two digits (1881–86) unless it is in a different century from that of the opening year, in which case the full closing year is given (1881–1986)." (emphasis added)

Rikster, in contrast, insists in this article on flouting MOS, and writing such as season with two extra digits (e.g., "2005-2006"). He lacks support both in MOS and in those who have edited this article.--Epeefleche (talk) 17:58, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

See my comments. Two sections of MOS in conflict and this needs to be resolved. Feel free to involve a mediator if you feel the need to accelerate (would be welcome). It is bad form to continually revert this (see User:Jojhutton reverting his own edit because he understands this). There is a Wikipedia consensus of well over 10,000 articles with the 8 digit format and MOS does not mandate the 6 digit format presently. As I said, if you want to involve a mediator I would welcome it, but it is not too much to ask that you leave this article be until consensus is reached. I have opened a formal request for dispute resolution assistance at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard#Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers#Date range redux. Please enter your thoughts on the matter there and do NOT change the article from its original state until resolution. Rikster2 (talk) 19:16, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My two cents worth, I agree with Rikster. DaHuzyBru (talk) 03:59, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
