I don't see a reason of why they need a page apart from the Belarus in eurovision song contest 2021 page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BabbaQ (talkcontribs) 18:01, 2021 March 11 (UTC)

Well, if this band actually gains significance, maybe because they got disqualified, then Wikipedia should have an article about this. However, I currently doubt that this will become notable (which is why I put the {{Notability}} tag on the page). ―JochemvanHees (talk) 18:25, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

@Paintspot: Hi, you recently removed the {{Notability}} tag from the page, stating that it is notable. However, I looked at the notability criteria for musicians and ensembles, and for all the criteria it currently either definitely doesn't meet it, or it is not clear from the citations that the criterion is met. The only criterion that it might meet is #10, but that's only if they actually get to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, and currently that's not even certain. ―JochemvanHees (talk) 18:37, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@JochemvanHees: – Even if they don't end up competing in Eurovision, they'd definitely still be notable due to the immense controversies, that (1.) the selection of the band by Belarus (which was formed originally as an anti-protest pro-Lukashenko band specifically), (2.) the release and opposition to the song itself, and (3.) the response from the EBU and the fact that they might end up being banned, have all generated. It's more than just 1 event of notability. Paintspot Infez (talk) 18:41, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but that needs to be reflected in the sources. That's also why the template says: "Please help to demonstrate the notability of the topic by citing reliable secondary sources that are independent of the topic and provide significant coverage of it beyond a mere trivial mention." Currently this article is only about Eurovision, not even that much about the band itself. ―JochemvanHees (talk) 18:54, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
