Naming[edit]

The article name is "Galloway Atlantic". This is the name used in Glenn Angle's 1921 aircraft engine encyclopedia. It is also the name used by Alec Lumsden in his book on British piston aero engines. However, this is not the only name in use:

Beardmore Atlantic (ref "The Aeroplane" 30 June 1920)

Beardmore 500 hp (ref "The Aeroplane" 30 June 1920)

It's also sometimes quoted as being a Beardmore Halford Pullinger engine (BHP Atlantic).

It seems the marketing was still being worked on when production ended.
