Are there webpages dedicated to Gamaka? if yes, pls let me know on sharmaji@hotmail.co.uk

I found no such dedicated page. Gamaka Kala Parishat seems to have no website. We may think of crating one. htttp://gamaka.kale.googlepages.com can be that page. Are people interested in providing content? Some recordings Vyakyana etc? Please leave a message and your contact here if you are interested. You may also write me at raguks@hotmail.com

I don't know how to make a disambiguation page, and I think one is warranted here. Gamaka has two meanings, one that is above, and the other that I have just added in (same as Gamak ). I hope someone can make a page which directs user to either Gamaka (storytelling), or Gamaka (microtonal variation). The second meaning and the page on Gamak are the same, so they can be combined. Please note that Gamakam/Gamak are different from what this articles talks about. Disambiguation is the way. Do not merge. ~rAGU (talk) 20:54, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ragas in Gamaka

[edit]

Those who closely follow Gamaka from different regions now well that there are some Kannada heartland tunes drawn from folk music and some folk Gamakam that are used in Gamaka singing. This is especially true with Sagara/Soraba regions of Karnataka. Some even have a mixture of folk and Yakshagana Gamakam. There is some influence of Hindutani in North Canara. I have added a phrase yet it is incomplete. Please add when you find time.
