Cleanup

[edit]

I added the cleanup and citations tag. The citations explains itself - there are none in the article. The cleanup is because the whole sections are poorly written and some parts are what I'd expect from a forum posting not an encyclopedia article. This article makes Wikipedia look very poor. A rewrite by someone with knowledge of the topic is required. Alexj2002 21:45, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with AlexJ2002 here. Further to this I have removed all present tags and added a complete rewrite tag. The article presently has numerous grammatical and spelling errors, as well as rather confusing and irrelevant sections. Solidenterprises 04:45, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have rewritten the article and deleted some irrelevant sections. I have marked it as wikify as it needs some wikilinks put in. Solidenterprises 03:09, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

outdated part

[edit]

"Gamespy has often been criticized for showing more concern regarding minor issues such as swearing inside the programs chat system, while the issue of spam is left unattended to. More recently, the issue of spam has been given more focus, with a new warning message whenever a user joins a game lobby."

This part seems outdated to me, Im using GamespyArcade daily, dont get messages regarding this except for maybe 1 or 2 of 200 lobby's.. bots and some admins are in place to prevent spam and abuse, (although not covered 100%.)

History

[edit]

It should be mentioned that this product began as a server browser for Quake. It was then known as QuakeSpy and later became GameSpy. Perhaps a history section should be added? kmwatcha

Downsides?

[edit]

Does this (the Arcade) have any major downsides? Such as, perhaps, does it give your e-mail address to any spam companies?

Fair use rationale for Image:Gamespy arcade logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Gamespy arcade logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Volunteers

[edit]

Shouldn't there be an article about the GameSpy Volunteers, as they still exist? http://www.gamespyvolunteers.com --Vdwijngaert (talk) 14:38, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
