According to our Vedas and Purana, there was four Varna Brahmin,Kshatriya,vaishya,shudra.And the Varna's are depend or decide by their work's. According to Wikipedia the work of Vaishyas are The occupation of Vaishyas consists mainly of agriculture, taking care of cattle, trade and other business pursuits as mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita.then why are the gandhabanik sampradaya is considered as middle class sudra.if we are notice the meaning of "GANDHABANIk" then we found 'GANDHA or গন্ধ 'means the good smell and 'BANIK OR বণিক 'means The merchant.That means the 'Gandhabanik or গন্ধবনিক' word refers the good smell merchant . In in the Manasa Mangal kavya we are found the chand Saudagar is also a sea merchant and a good trader and also a Siva upasak.
