The link at the bottom of the page says it all. It leads to the myspace page of a suburban kid striking ridiculous poses wearing what he assumes to be 'fly' sunglasses. I wasn't sure whether I should laugh or cry when I saw it myself, but in either event, this article is clearly something written not to describe the slang term 'gangsta', or those who identify with it; more likely it was some ninth grader whose mom drops him off at school in her new model BMW and has parents named 'Biff' and 'Buffy' trying to get a Wikipedia page written just so he can show it to his friends at the country club and say, "Look! Right here it says I am the very definition of a gangsta! I'm so fly it hurts!". It's a pity Wikipedia doesn't have a Warning that says "Wikipedia does not allow it's articles to be used for fronting." Wandering Star 02:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think this is a vanity page. It seems to be a general article about gangstas and the gangsta culture. Looking at the history it seems that the link to that myspace was inserted before the rightfully placed information about gangstas and their idealisms and habits. Normal vandalism ensued afterwards (eg pov) 'He is a 'G' at bball' and the link to myspace. I think it would be best to leave the information about gangstas themselves and remove any personal information about myspaces and particular 'Gangstas' ;) ||edit: btw I did find your post extremely funny LOL well said! :D I think gangsta's are really cool, and to be a 'gangsta' can also mean a fake gangster, but someone trying to look like a gangster. A gangsta can also be a drug dealer.

Maybe you're right. I guess nobody was watching the page as it developed, so vandalism was inevitable. Since it's a pop culture reference, I guess it was only a matter of time before the chav inserted the link to his myspace page and POV'd the shit out of the article. I'll try to keep an eye on it from now on. Wandering Star 20:44, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, shit, I spoke too soon. Here comes the chavalanche. Brace yourselves everybody. Wandering Star 00:46, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chavalanche... clever. I thought I was protected from that, what with living in LA and all. NorphTehDwarf 18:18, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking at this site a couple minutes ago, and it had absaloutely nothing to do with gangstas of any form. It's back now but that was a bit odd.

Hmm...[edit]

Due to how teens and slightly older people who consider themself "gangsta", like to make a big deal out of gangstaism and themselves... shouldn't this page be protected? Just a thought. Yonjyuuni 08:23, 15 June 2007 (UTC) Yonjyuuni[reply]

BUZZ ALDREN!?[edit]

Um... seriously... wtf!? If you search his page (which is linked here) you will find NO reference to this. Am I missing something? I don't care what the footnote says. This is fucking bullshit. 206.24.49.1 (talk) 23:27, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
