Alternative name?

[edit]

I have a copy of "Here in cool grot" that lists Wesley's name as "Garret Colley Wellesley." As the page I have is a photocopy from rehearsal, I don't have the original source, so I can't verify the "authenticity" of this spelling, but the fact that it was published in a modern collection is enough for me. I'm willing to bet it's in the Oxford collection, or that Tudor Anthems book, or somewhere similar. If anybody finds this spelling in publication, please footnote the alternative spelling! Thanks! -- The Realms of Gold (talk) 21:26, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to Elizabeth Pakenham, Countess of Longford's 1960s book on Wellington, the family surname changed from Wesley to Wellesley in mid-1798, so I am removing Garret Colley Wellesley as he died before 1798.86.42.203.244 (talk) 21:50, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
