Stories

[edit]

Let's hear some short stories. One of mine: 50 years ago, this month. I lived in a 2nd-floor room, north side, of the house across the street (Oread). My window led to the porch roof. On a good spring day, some would drag the Gaslight juke box outside and play songs, like Louie Louie, Wooly Bully, and a whole lot more. ... In short, we had Be ins in Kansas before S.F. Started to work there later that year (August). jmswtlk (talk) 23:06, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I worked at the Gaslight my freshman and sophomore years, fall 1967 to April 1969. Across the street was the Alpha Chi sorority house.
Replying here nine years too late is kinda pointless.
I came here to complain that there was no mention of Harold Stagg. Tsprad (talk) 04:36, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Original vs follow ons

[edit]

I'm hoping that someone will fill in the info on the new Gaslight keeping within the Wikipedia NPOV, etc. guidelines. I'm trying to fill in the pieces for the 'older' Gaslight (lived across the street from it in a house on Oread and worked there - yet, will keep the NPOV, etc.). The History section could be several subsections. jmswtlk 21:01, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The current establishment has closed several times and seems to have a new name, Gaslight Gardens. So, that suggests that the article will focus on the tavern that stood for many years right off the KU Campus on Oread in Lawrence, KS. jmswtlk (talk) 23:59, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
