Cure[edit]

"Recorded cases of this phenomenon are rare. One example is that of C. S. Lewis (who did not know of this phenomenon but nevertheless has a case of it). After reading biographical interpretations of his own works and realizing how incorrect they could be, he began to read other biographical interpretations with more caution, aware not to accept everything stated at face value." Unsupported sentences[edit]

Some of the sources weren't really supporting the sentences they were pinned to. For example, the NYTimes mentions "news" and social memetics but did not mention anything about the Gell-Mann amnesia effect or selective distrust of media due to expertise. The National Review article doesn't offer support for the sentence it was tacked on to. But it does make the supposition that the Gell-Mann amnesia effect may not hold universally. I didn't follow up on the books Inside Gamergate and Saving the Republic, but the sentence they were supporting was not a statement of fact needing support but a hypothetical statement illustrating the Gell-Mann effect. I deleted this sentence because it was redundant. Thomas L. McDonald's quote was redundant. C.S. Lewis was a literary critic, so it is not a counter example to the Gell-Mann amnesia effect if he doesn't believe biographical literary theories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.46.112.117 (talk) 00:24, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1) No evidence of a discussion is recorded on this talk page. 2) This page was redirected to the top of a biography page, not to the relevant section of said page. 3) The relevant section of that page has been moved. 4) Neither the page redirected to nor the page the relevant section was split to ever contained the (cognitive bias) category.
