Numerous errors and omissions in this article.

No mention at all of Taylor's main focus in Congress as a member of the House Armed Services Committee where he will be a subcommittee chairman in 2007. A leading advocate for health care benefits for military retirees & health insurance for National Guard & Reserves. Complained about shortages of armor for troops and vehicles, shortage of jammers to block roadside bombs, called for Rumsfeld's removal long before those concerns became mass movements. A leading Armed Services Committee expert on Colombia and other Latin America concerns. Sponsored the cap on the number of US troops sent to Colombia without explcit Congressional approval. Critic and opponent of base closure process and its manipulation by the Pentagon which smuggled in policy changes that had nothing to do with excess facilities. Advocate of more nuclear powered surface ships to reduce Navy's reliance on massive quantities of oil imports that are more expensive and more scarce when needed during wartime.

Taylor beat Republican Tom Anderson, not Lyles Williams, in the special election runoff. He was sworn in on Oct. 24, 1989, not the 18th.

He does not represent the district, other than by number, that was represented by Ronnie Shows. Mississippi lost a seat, from 5 to 4, after the 2000 Census. Taylor's seat number changed from 5 to 4 and his distict picked up small portions of the old 3rd & 4th. Most of the old 3rd and 4th were combined into the new 3rd, where 4th CD incumbent Shows lost to 3rd CD incumbent Pickering in 2002.
