- @Johnsmith212254 I disagree. Lieutenant general doesn't cover individual countries' versions of the rank; right now, it's just a broad overview of what the rank is and how it was named. Articles about a specific national variation of the rank can go into greater detail about its role and history relevant to that country than would otherwise be possible with a single article summarizing each country. Generalleutnant and many of the other articles about lieutenant general variants do need to be expanded and sourced for that to happen, but that's not something merging would help with.
