Date of birth

[edit]

Some sources, e.g. this PFA interview, "about" page of business venture, suggest that Scott was for some time Stoke's youngest debutant, and that his playing career ended at age 26. This is incompatible with reliable sources, e.g. Matthews. Complete Record. ISBN 978-1-85983-010-9.; Hugman. PFA Premier and Football League Players Records (1946-2005). ISBN 1852916656.; Sporting Heroes, Neil Brown, which give his date of birth as 31 October 1956.

However, an article in The Times dated 19 Feb 1980 says "Chelsea have completed the signing of Dennis Rofe, the Leicester City full back, ... Leicester City moved quickly to find a replacement. They bought Geoff Scott, 21, from Stoke City." Which, if accurate, would back up Scott's retiring from league football at or around 26. All you'd need is a typo in his birthdate in the first "reliable" source, then the others follow it, and all of a sudden it's a proven fact that he was born in 1956. Does anyone happen to have a reliable source that could clear this up? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:49, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
