Isostatic uplift[edit]

  • How much is the geography of the Åland Islands changing due to the area rising at about 1 cm/year due to isostatic uplift due to removal of the weight of the Ice Age icecap? I read that it is well known for a boy to row a boat on shallow sea there and when he is an old man he walks dryshod in the same place. (The area does not have tides.)
