Talk:Geography of Palestine
Look at the Geography of Israel article and compare it to Israel. Compare the Geography of North America article to North America. The main articles are about land/countery/whatever in general: it's people, history, etc. The "Geography of" articles are about the geography: the climate, the geology, etc. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 20:51, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- It is nice and fun, but you did create 67 links to disambiguation pages by disturbing Template:Geography of Asia. Can you clean that up too? The Banner talk 10:49, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- The problem is that the template is broken and points to some pages about the region instead of the country, and it doesn't just effect this page. For example "Palestine" on Asia topic points to the Palestine article (which is about the region). Even the links that are working are only working because of redirects. There's a discussion about fixing it at Template_talk:Asia_topic#Palestinian_territories. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 11:47, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- That is not true. The template is bad and dodgy, but it is you who created the problem. You can easily repair it by reverting until the second article is created. Hopefully, the whizzkids have a solution by then. I don't want to see this templates in the Templates with disambiguation links-list because someone did not realize the consequences of an action... So I am clear: solve it or revert it. The Banner talk 12:34, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- It should no longer show up on Templates with disambiguation links. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 12:54, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- Banner, I think that I might have misunderstood you. Is your objection that the template shows up on Templates with disambiguation links, or that the template links to a disambig page. If it's the second one, there's not much to revert to. We don't have an article on Geography of the Palestinian territories. Making this anything other then a disambag page would take the template's link further away from being a link to Geography of the Palestinian territories. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 04:23, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Banner, I think I did misunderstand you, so I'll re-add the disambig templates. I was wrong about us not having a Geography of PT article, it's at Outline_of_the_Palestinian_territories#Geography_of_the_Palestinian_territories. But still, A link to Geography of Palestine is supposed to be a link to Geography of Palestine, not Geography of PT. If we redirect this to that PT Geography page, we'll be fixing the template by breaking this page and and any page that (intentionally) links to this page. Let's not fix the template by break other pages, let's fix the template by fixing the template. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 23:25, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- And with that, you recreated the problem... The Banner talk 00:48, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- Whoops, I understood you correctly the first time. I'll subst the disambig template, that should keep it from showing up on Templates with disambiguation links. Mostly out of curiosity, what's the problem with the template showing up on Templates with disambiguation links, considering that it does have a disambig link. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 03:40, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- The problem with that Asia topic template has been fixed, so I've re-added the disambig template. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 00:12, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- Strange, substing the template didn't fix it. I'll remove it. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 10:04, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Of course "Geography of Palestine" is same as "Palestine (region)". On the other hand "Geography of the Palestinian Authority" is not "Palestinian Authority". In case PNA will be upgraded to non-member State status in the UN, we can rename "geography of the Palestinian Authority" to "Geography of the State of Palestine". Only when Palestine becomes member state it can be renamed "Geography of Palestine", describing the geography of the Palestinian State.Greyshark09 (talk) 09:38, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- Emmette, you seem to be taking a very narrow view of what "geography" means. I suggest you read through the Geography article at your leisure. In fact, most of the content of Palestine is related to the geography, more broadly defined, of that region. The major exception may be the "history" section. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:20, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- I addressed that in my first post. North America like Palestine is a geography article, because it's about a peace of land, but it's scope is deferent then Geography of North America. Maybe when I said "Geography of" articles are about the geography" I worded it poorly, but my point stands. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 10:28, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Not a Disambig
[edit]A disambig is (from Wikipedia:Disambiguation) a page "resolving the conflicts that arise when a single term is ambiguous—when it refers to more than one topic covered by Wikipedia articles. For example, the word "Mercury" can refer to an element, a planet, a Roman god, and many other things.". This isn't the case here, this "articles" topic is the Geography of Palestine, it just needs some serous development. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 08:29, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
