Confusion of names[edit]

Mason used both his full name and 'George C. Champlin' in his publications, and his firm was George C. Champlin (later George C. Champlin & Son). However, I have made this page under his full name with 'Sr.' to avoid confusion because his son of the same name was also a noted architect and because there are other George C. Champlins in the world. (I have created a page for the son as well.) There is persistent confusion even in otherwise reliable sources between these two George C. Masons, which should be borne in mind by anyone editing this page. For example, at least two publications in the late 1870s could theoretically be by either father or son and I have not yet been able to determine which with certainty. Both are currently ascribed to the father, with a footnote mentioning the issue.Alafarge (talk) 18:55, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
