A fact from George Goodman (politician) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 25 August 2010 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Whig or Liberal and length of service issue?[edit]
The article is a little inconsistent as to what party George Goodman belonged to. The opening section describes him as "a Liberal politician", but the info box labels him as a Whig. He is also in both Category:Whig (British political party) MPs for English constituencies and Category:Liberal Party (UK) MPs for English constituencies. The Leeds constituency article labels him as a Whig. Generally 1859 is given as the date of the founding of the Liberal Party (although the label liberal was much older, albeit inconstantly applied) and the end of the Whigs as a party. If Goodman was out of parliament in 1857 he would usually not be considered as a Liberal However this leads to another big issue the Leeds constituency article suggests Goodman was an MP until 1859, not 1857 as stated here.
