TOC Suggestion

I know Jones was a well known drinker but do we really want that to be the very first part of his biography? I would suggest that we move it further down in the article. It needs to be there but his primary notability is not his drinking but his music. In the spirit of consensus I will await some comments. Thanks JBEvans 20:21, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I went to this page to say the same thing and found your message. Currently the article contains no information about the progress of George's professional career. Someone should come up with a summary of his musical career, that's all. --Ghirla -трёп- 18:55, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

White Lightning Album

I've been looking over the discography, and I don't see any reference to an album I have – the 1984 album White Lightning. I actually don't even see it mentioned on Jones' official site, so I haven't added it the article. Any thoughts? Adam McMaster 10:03, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I looked at the album you are talking about and it looks to me that it is a greatest hits album by GJ. Alakey2010 03:54, 21 May 2007 (CST)

Fair use rationale for File:George Jones Ten Years of Hits.jpg

File:George Jones Ten Years of Hits.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:56, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use image removal

I have removed all or a majority of the fair use images on this page as their use was not in line with our Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria policy (likely in that the use is not minimal (3.a.) and it is in a list or a gallery (8.)) or our Wikipedia:Non-free content guideline that states that cover images may only be used for critical commentary on the cover itself, not just identification. Please do not re-add them without discussion. Kotepho 09:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Discography

The discography section of this page is excessively long. It needs to be split into it's own page. Please do not remove the tag until this is accomplished. Thank you. Bullzeye (Complaint Dept./Brilliant Acts) 01:52, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Residence

It says George and Nancy currently reside in Enterprise, AL. From what I've been understanding, they have a home there and also their home in Franklin, TN. I believe the Enterprise home is more like a "second" home, rather than their primary residence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Caa3902 (talkcontribs) 21:11, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I have been looking into that and you are right there primary residence is in Franklin, TN and there "second" home is in Enterprise, AL. – Alakey2010 09:36pm (CST) Sept. 12, 2007 (GJ's 76th B-Day!)

context

Why is this article all about the last few years and very little about his career before that? and why so much detail about the last few years? This sucks! 216.153.143.247 (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I have it on my "to do" list as I totallly agree with what you are saying. It's finding the time, though. GJ is my favourite country singer and he has had such an interesting life. You could, of course, help with the article yourself as could anyone. Grievous Angel (talk) 15:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

You call this an article?????

This is a terrible article, certainly not one worthy of George Jones, one of the greatest singers of all time. Slater79 (talk) 01:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I've removed the trivia section and scrapped almost everything under the yearly headings as it was all fairly trivial anyway. The article is very short now but hopefully it will be expanded properly to an article befitting an artist of Jones's stature. I, for one, will be working on it as and when time permits.
