"Political Party" line[edit]

Baker's party is identified as "Democratic" here yet the only indication in any of the links is "Republican". To wit, footnote 1 notes "In 1924, he ran in the primary for United States Senator as a Republican but was defeated by incumbent....".

No other citation from his time as mayor or aspiring mayor mentions any political party at all, indicating that the city's elections would have been nonpartisan.
