British vs English[edit]

@Slivicon:, I reverted your category change because it isn't clear if he was English (or Welsh or Scottish or Irish). Therefore, the default shouldn't be English but British. Clearly '20th-century British medical doctors‎' shouldn't be a container category: I can understand '20th-century British people by occupation' being a container category. If it's clear it shouldn't be a container category, why does it continue to be one? --Slivicon (talk) 17:26, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It was created in November 2011 as a container category. There is nothing stopping us changing it. If @Slivicon: agree with my reasoning above, I shall remove the restriction. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 17:47, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed it. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 18:06, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The main article has a link to a 20 page memoir by two other Fellows of the Royal Society which makes it clear that his family background was in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Northumberland, so he should be regarded as English. NRPanikker (talk) 23:13, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
