Certifications clarifications

[edit]

RIAA/CRIA count individual units (discs). "Straight out of the Box" is a 4 disc set, which means 2 million sets were sold, while "Pure Country" is a single disc release which over 6 million units were sold, so in actuality, "Pure Country" has sold three times what "Straight out of the Box" has. These discography pages (for all artists/groups) should all have a note to this effect, to avoid misrepresenting the number of actual releases sold. One cannot buy a single disk of a boxed set or multi-disk release...at least not new, which is a requirement for counting towards certifications. Not everyone understands the difference between units and releases so they may not correctly interpret what the certification figures show. 68.235.189.48 (talk) 13:17, 16 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
