= Generalization[edit]

Things were made to generalize the term geosphere, retaining the geology references and putting them in perspective relative to the other less condensed states of matter. My main objective here was to define the term "geopause' in the context of the outer limits of the geosphere. To do this, one has to admit that the ocean, atmosphere, and plasmasphere-ionosphere are part of the Earth, and then ask "where does the Earth end and the Sun begin?" This was motivated by a misuse of the term "geopause" that occurred in the "Solar Wind" article, where it was mistakenly identified with the magnetopause or bow shock. This was pointed out in the Eos Transactions of the Am. Geophys. Un. on 13 March 2007, by Mark Moldwin of UCLA.
