Any idea why he skipped Brigadier to go straight from Colonel to MG?

Brigadier was not a rank at this point, it was a position. A colonel might be appointed a brigadier if he needed to have command over a number of battalions; he would then be called 'brigadier' but would still hold rank as a colonel and revert to such after the position as brigadier had ended. There was, however, no requirement to have ever held this position and promotion to major general was by seniority.

Recommend mentioning his promotions to Gen and Lt. Gen in the lead

Years of service is presented in the infobox as 1787-1859. Should it be 1780-1783, 1787-1859 to include his Marines service, or does that not count because he never became official there

The years of service are for his British Army career, as per the branch stipulated above. I hardly think his tenure with the Marines could be described as "service" at all!

French Revolutionary Wars in mentioned in the infobox, but not in the body. Can it be mentioned what part of his garrisoning service was considered to be part of that war?
