Gerard DouGerrit Dou — The Dutch, not French, version of his name is standard in English these days, eg used by the National Galleries in both London & Washington. Johnbod (talk) 13:59, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure of that. Gerard is as Dutch as Gerrit. The Rijksmuseum and the Netherlands Institute for Art History use the name "Gerard Dou" as prefered name over "Gerrit Dou". Vincent Steenberg (talk) 12:26, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Getty List prefer "Gerrit" too -[1]. At least there is only way to spell it. When there are differences we go with English-language sources. Johnbod (talk) 14:33, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting difference. Thanks for the url. Vincent Steenberg (talk) 15:59, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Interpretation Section

[edit]

The Interpretation section seems out of place on this entry, as it constitutes the bulk of the article and adds very little. I don't think even editing can save it. The writing is atrocious, it's not well organized, and the citations not done correctly. It's not clear what someone is supposed to get from this section. It adds nothing to this article and should be removed. NastyBrutishAndTall (talk) 00:38, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
