Naming Conventions[edit]

They are pretty much nonexistent and driving me insane. Of the two sites I referenced, one calls Dual-Touch "Two Touch", the other follows the logical naming. The industry keeps calling their GEST (Gesture-Enhanced Single-Touch) devices Dual-Touch or even Multi-Touch for marketing reasons, causing perfect confusion. Also, I'm aware there is no conventional name for GEST. I could have named the article "Single-Touch with some two-finger gestures", but that's more a description than a name. "Dual Control" is apparently related to brands and therefore not really a neutral name, "Gesture Touch" is even worse, because it doesn't at all specify the number of possible simultaneous inputs. So, if someone has a better naming, go ahead and change it... just please don't use illogical versions in which GEST is called Dual-Touch or Multi-Touch, because those are outright misleading and only benefit those advertising GEST devices.
