Fan Reaction POV[edit]

The fan reaction section is a big mess - there's only one citation and its for the script. There's absolutely no cite for the claim regarding industry insiders. It's also heavily slanted against the project. While this may be true, there's no cites to back up a largely negative fan reaction. This needs serious work!

Dwayne Johnson = The Rock[edit]

Last I remember, he was credited in films as simply "The Rock". If in his latest film, he's credited as such, then he should be referred to here as "The Rock" too. — mattrobs 06:02, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He is credited as “Dwayne Johnson” in the trailer for THIS film. Not “The Rock” or “Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.” Also, “Dwayne Johnson” is the title of his Wikipedia article. I have edited the article to reflect this. Xargon666x6 16:47, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brooks's involvement[edit]

Does anybody know if Mel Brooks is working on this film in any way, shape or form? Thank you. Tenk you veddy much. --Wack'd Talk to me!Admire my handiwork! 19:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just got back from seeing it, and Mel Brooks is credited as a consultant. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 07:33, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spoilers[edit]

Is it really necessary to have the cameo roles listed in the article introduction? I'd much rather have been surprised by these cameos in the theater than read them on Wikipedia. At the very least leave it to only the subsequent cast list and have only the main stars listed in the intro. 75.84.153.232 (talk) 10:17, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The above pretty much answer's the IP's question, but to be more clear, about a year or so ago, it was decided by "consensus" that Wikipedia would basically become a spoiler zone. The idea of adding "spoiler tags" to articles was dropped and it basically became open season. As a result, the rule of thumb now is, if you don't want to be spoiled regarding a film, TV show or book, do not read Wiki articles related to such productions if you wish to remain spoiler-free. That definitely goes for any topic-specific Wikia sites, too. 23skidoo (talk) 13:07, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Marketing[edit]

The marketing section is an incoherent mess. Groovy man, groovy (talk) 18:54, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

"Don Adams played the role of Maxwell Smart in the original 1960s television series on NBC & CBS (1965-1970). Upon the death of Don Adams, Steve Carell went on to replace him as the role of Maxwell Smart throughout the film." This does not make any sense to me personally. It sounds like the beginning of the movie, Don Adams was playing Max and then in the movie he died and then Steve Carell assumed his identity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.151.142.211 (talk) 00:36, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was done as a tribute to Don Adams, like how Get Smart, Again! was a tribute to the chief after he died. That and they needed proper cone of silence for nostalgia purposes in the board room. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.27.72.8 (talk) 10:44, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The trivia says that Siegfried is talking to his boss, 'Mr. Big'. That's impossible and inaccurate because Mr. Big dies in the series pilot, well before Siegfried's first appearance. 208.124.72.201 (talk) 23:20, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Me[reply]

The opening credits also contain a Post-It note mentioning (for no diegetic purpose) "Toto", seemingly an allusion to the band's song "99". Asat (talk) 08:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

DVD Release?[edit]

Nobody seems to have any information about the DVD release, except here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425061/news#ni0522319

which says "August 5". It's now August 24, and nobody seems to have it. There's no "DVD Info" on IMDB or MSN movies.

(ETA: Turns out there was a misfire where IMDB tagged that article as related to the movie, when it's actually about the old TV series -- still, the question of the 2008 film release stands) 96.244.69.135 (talk) 19:32, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"The DVD has been announced to be released on November 4th, 2008."[edit]

Can't be true, I just rented it yesterday. Not a cheap one, the real one. --189.149.128.157 (talk) 04:41, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SAAB?[edit]

When was a SAAB Sonnet used in the original series? Which version? Bernie Kopell has his cameo driving a bronze metallic Opel GT, which was one of the cars Maxwell Smart used in the original series. Were the Opel and Sunbeam the same cars from the series? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bizzybody (talkcontribs) 07:25, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References to the TV show[edit]

How about a new section listing the references to the TV show? ~ Wikipedian19265478 (talk) 21:37, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
