Relation to URAN (Ukrainian Radio Interferometer of NASU)

[edit]

What is the relation of this radio telescope to URAN (Ukrainian Radio Interferometer of NASU, Ukrainian: Український Радіоіонтеферометр Академії Наук - УРАН)? Do these two articles describe the same project? Or is one a part of the other? Should these two articles be merged? --ChetvornoTALK 19:27, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I write my answer in a correct place, sorry if so. URAN is an interferometric system which is added to UTR-2 (in 1980-s) in order to make interferometric observations. UTR-2 may be used as a main part of URAN or as a standalone instrument. GURT we say "is being built to complement UTR-2", but actually it is a new instrument, independaent and stanadalone. Sometimes we make joint observations (GURT and UTR-2 record signal simultaneously) but as a completely independent systems. So no, GURT and URAN are different projects. Articles should not be merged. --YeSTALK 22:06, 01 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
