Military Mission Picture

The picture seems rather out of place without accompanying information in the article. I'm tempted to delete this picture, unless related information is provided. Douggers 02:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I removed the picture. I do not have proof that the delegation did not visit Gifu City, but aeronautics have traditionally been related to neighboring Kakamigahara. Until there is supporting evidence, I don't think this picture belongs here.

Geography section

Valuable addition. Thanks for putting this in. Again, if a map is available, it would be beneficial, but the lack of a map should not be a barrier to Good or Featured status, I'd suppose. Fg2 (talk) 06:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

The only maps I can get my hands on now are copyright protected. Maybe I can pull up some historical maps, since the geography hasn't changed at all, unless you have any advice on acquiring maps. As it is, though, I've nominated it as a FAC. Douggers (talk) 13:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

GA Pass

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

This article is thorough, detailed, and well-organized. There were some copyedit problems, but I was bold and fixed them myself. In some spots the writing feels like it's an official tour guide, but maybe it's my imagination. (For example, some of the writing in "Tourism" and "Historical areas".)

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
Generally solid. I did some cleanup.
    B. MoS compliance:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
Nice job. Some heavy reliance on official sources, but perhaps there's not much else to use.
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
Very nice coverage. If anything, we might have too few details in too many subject areas. Maybe combine some of them if they can't be expanded? (I'm thinking about what you might work on if you plan to shoot for FA.)
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
See above comments about official sources and advertising-like prose.
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
The image of cormorant fishing is especially striking.
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
Nice work. If you plan to aim for FA status, add more depth in the shorter sections, and maybe discuss some famous folks who have come from Gifu. Please let me know if you have any questions. – Scartol • Tok 00:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the comments. I'll try to get working on some of your suggestions in the next week or two. Douggers (talk) 01:30, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

The only concern I have here is that it's missing a section on local government. This should be added. Other than that, it looks good. I won't delist, but I think the article still needs such a section. Dr. Cash (talk) 18:02, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I started a local government section and will be expanding it soon. Douggers (talk) 01:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Geography

Though the foehn winds from the mountains to the north provide dry, warm air to the city, it still experiences a wide range of weather throughout the year ......?

See ja:伊吹おろし dry, cold air (乾いた冷たい風) My English may be inappropriate, because I am a Japanese. --Kanesue (talk) 11:31, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I put that section in and I think I took it from ja:岐阜県. I should have stated that the foehn winds blow in the summer (from the Kansai area). The Ibuki Oroshi you mentioned are cold winter winds (from the northwest). I think it's possible to put both things in the article. Douggers (talk) 12:50, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you this edit. But I think this edit need Reliable sources.
Because south provide warm and swet in summur(jul and aug).[1] but Top3 hot day [2] [3] [4] was dry and west winds. My English may be inappropriate, because I am a Japanese.--Kanesue (talk) 08:33, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Mistake

"Control Gifu and you control Japan" — it was said about Mino province, not Gifu.--202.71.90.139 (talk) 06:19, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
