Two Things[edit]

Does anyone know when he was born?

Can someone provide a different pronunciation for those of us not firmiliar with the IPA.

I'll try: Gil (the G is like the "j" in French word "je"); Eanes (Yah-nesh; the "a" is like the "u" in fun; the "e" is like the French word "que"). Joaopais 02:41, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Gil Eanes appears in a 1975 color motion picture[edit]

Documentary color film footage from summer or autumn of 1975 appears to show the Gil Eanes underway at sea, aiding in the evacuation of Portuguese Angolans from soon-to-be independent Angola. The footage, in the form of a Flash movie, is at http://meusescapes.blogspot.com/2008/05/angola-minha-terra-momentos-de-grandes.html#!/tcmbck , and the ship first appears at about minute 14:00.
