I have just read the Gildone page and found it very interesting. My name is Gildone and my grandfather, Vincenzo, emigrated in the late 1890's. He had 5 sons and 2 daughters and all the Gildones in Conneaut, Ohio are decendants of my Grandfather. Ever since I found the town of Gildone I have come to the conclusion that my grandfather had misunderstood the people at Ellis Island when they asked him his last name and he told them where he was from, but after reading this article, I wonder if so many people named Gildone could have made the same mistake.

It is too late to ask those relatives about this because all of those who would have known have passed on.

If anyone has further comments on this I would be glad to hear them
