After consulting with other copyright experts, I removed a substantial portion of this article, much of which was a copyright violation, and some of which might've been a copyright violation but was clearly spammy.--S Philbrick(Talk)21:48, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I removed some more material that was added as part of an edit that was mostly a copyright problem. Arguably, some of the information that is a listing of government grants may qualify as an exception to usual copyright concerns on the basis that it's pure factual information in the form of a list, but in view of the fact that most of the edit was a copyright violation, it's better to remove it all and let a different editor and it back if appropriate.--S Philbrick(Talk)12:51, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recently I had a number of well researched with reliable sourced articles all reverted for "straight up spam" by user "Praxidicae". You can see the revision history using this comparison, where in yellow you will see the Lead section, Funding section, and COVID-19 section: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ginkgo_Bioworks&type=revision&diff=1020356856&oldid=1020151111 All of these were added by me and reverted as spam by the other user. None of this is spam, as all RS have been cited for example with references to CNBC, WIRED, Reuters, BizJournals, Genomeweb, etc. I would like someone to look into this as it's very strange behavior to wipe out multiple sections that are properly sourced for "spam" when clearly it is not spammy material at all. - NeedAUsername44 (talk) 14:08, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Howdy all - I'm an employee at GB so can't edit, but would love to point you to some fact-checked sources that could be great for making any updates to this page. The first is [this] New York Times story we participated in and also our [S-4] from this year. It can help clarify some facts that are wrong in this article about our structure and history. Hope this is helpful and within Wiki etiquette! It's been over a decade since my last talk page edit. - yossi842 (talk) 11:42, 1 Dec 2021 (UTC)
