Name

[edit]

All the literature I've seen for the school has it named bilingually, and in fact the council's own website refers to it as Glasgow Gaelic School. The renaming seems valid to me, and in accordance with the WP guidelines.Prof Wrong (talk) 19:27, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree as per WP:UE. I'll get to work moving it now. JoshuaJohnLee talk softly, please 03:28, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sgoil Ghàidhlig GhlaschuGlasgow Gaelic School – Move to Glasgow Gaelic School based on WP:UE. As noticed in the above comment the school has a clearly published bilingual name and the article name should be in English rather than Gaelic. Move back to Glasgow Gaelic School

[edit]

I don't remember there being a discussion, but someone seems to have moved this page back to it's Gaelic page, even though a move was agreed to Glasgow Gaelic School to bring it into line with naming conventions. Therefore I'm proposing we move it back to the English name. The move summary given "Using the actual name rather than a mere translation" doesn't seem to justify moving the page there. It's not a "mere" translation, it is the official, accepted and commonly used name in English. Since policy is to use English names for articles where possible, it should be moved back there. I've moved it back considering the move request above. Please open a move request before moving this to Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu or any similar variant. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 22:52, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for performing the move. For future references, here are examples of the name "Glasgow Gaelic School" being used in official and reliable sources. [1][2][3]

Why was the article on English Wikipedia about Bunscoil an Iúir deleted? Carson a chaidh an artaigil air Wikipedia Beurla mu Bhunscoil an Iúir a sguabadh às?
