Is a Ph.D. thesis really the best source to be citing? Especially for claims about the channel's "quality programming"? IIRC, thesises are generally avoided as RS.

Checked all content that is supported by this source, and rephrased sentence you mentioned in a less peacocky and more specific way. There is no better source, but the PhD thesis/dissertation is from a leading university in Asian Studies (SOAS of the University of London). You are right of course that a PhD thesis has less credence than a peer-reviewed scientific article, but I am not aware of any policy against it. "Dissolved 26 December 2016" in the infobox. The lead makes it sound like a going concern...

Fixed.

This needs a copyedit, pretty badly. Parts of it, especially the Steve Jobs section, are hard to read, in other parts it doesn't seem to have clarity between the network's former operations and the current Internet ones. It feels like someone took an article about a defunct channel and just stuck on a little about a new one.
