Name of organisation

[edit]

This article has been re-named twice now (originally 'International Network of Geoparks') modified by me to 'Global Network of National Geoparks' then more recently by Joey80 to 'Global Geoparks Network'. UNESCO itself refers to it on its own webpages as the 'Global Network of National Geoparks (GGN)' (http://www.globalgeopark.org/publish/portal1/tab190/) but also as the 'Global Geoparks Network (GGN)'. However the page at http://www.globalgeopark.org/publish/portal1/tab192/ goes on to refer to the office of the 'World Geoparks Network'. I suspect some of this variety results from translation between Chinese and English. The UNESCO portal at http://portal.unesco.org/science/en/ev.php-URL_ID=6400&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECTION=201.html refers repeatedly to the 'Global Network of National Geoparks' but does also refer to the 'Global Geoparks Network'. I think then that it is fair to say that uncertainty remains as to the 'correct' form of the name. I shall try to get confirmation from UNESCO as to the preferred version.

Map update

[edit]

In the light of the more recent accession by geoparks in Japan, Finland and Canada amongst other countries, the map could do with an update. cheers Geopersona (talk) 05:38, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed Vietnam and South Korea also now need adding - see talk on Members of the Global Geoparks Network page. Geopersona (talk) 15:54, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
