Promo and advertising language[edit]

The original, as produced by the GWP Secretariat was written like a promotional piece and not like an encyclopedia article. I have cleaned up a little of the "bureaucratic speech" in the first paragraph, but it needs more work. --Bejnar (talk) 06:04, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits from GWP Communication Officer Helene Komlos Grill (Gwpwiki) may have conflict of interest problems. --Bejnar (talk) 17:31, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have added references so I hope that there are now concerns about the conflict of interest and that the box can be deleted from the site. Thank you, Helene —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gwpwiki (talkcontribs) 16:46, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All of the added references are to GWP sites. That doesn't clear up the conflict of interest problem. Also see Wikipedia:Citing_sources#Footnote_referencing for adding references. For links within the English Wikipedia see Help:Links#Wikilinks. --Bejnar (talk) 17:32, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More external resources and references have been added. I hope that the conflict of interest alert can be removed from the site, thank you, Helene

Sources[edit]

This article needs citations to independent reliable published sources. --Bejnar (talk) 17:31, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete the conflict of interest box, the material has been cleaned up now, the real source can verify the added material: www.gwpforum.org. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gwpwiki (talkcontribs) 16:10, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You miss the point. Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) says An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. No matter how notable the members of an organization are they do no provide notability. Please find independent sources! --Bejnar (talk) 17:32, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I understand. I have added other external references, please let me know if I need to add more. Thank you, Helene

This is an interesting case, as there is a fair amount of serious descriptions of the organization's activities available, but most of it seems to be by other international organizations, local branches/partners of the GWP, or their employees or supporters, which hardly counts as independent material. (Such as an entire 120-page report, http://siteresources.worldbank.org/EXTGLOREGPARPROG/Resources/GWP.pdf, by the World Bank.) It is easy to establish the notability of GWP within the universe of international orgnaizations, but Wikipedia requires attention by "outsiders" to be proven. That said, a Google News search does turn up some articles, e.g. http://www.awoko.org/2011/09/26/gwp-to-establish-country-water-partnership-in-salone/, http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/article2450481.ece (perhaps not quite independent), http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5jnBZ8sjH99FvwsDzSZqpzZf1nOFg?docId=CNG.4ecd62b490d0f49529b2cfb2c331d332.1b1, and http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110908/local/-800-000-grant-for-Eco-Gozo-s-water-stewardship-programme.383721. It is probably possible to find additional independent sources with more searching. --OttoG (talk) 19:56, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
