Gay Icon Project

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:19, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Carter's suicide

Just a note: if you edit the info on Carter's suicide, please also edit the info on the Anderson Cooper and Carter Vanderbilt Cooper pages so they stay in sync. Thanks! -- Limulus 02:57, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

did just that, thanks --Tom 15:48, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Son's sexuality

Removed words "and is gay" behind Anderson Cooper's name. It is unreferenced - Cooper's sexuality falls under the biographies of living persons and is addressed in the talk section of his wiki page ad nauseum.

Marriages, relationships and children

I corrected the date of Gloria's marriage to Wyatt Cooper. According to the New York Times, they married on December 24, 1963. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.69.137.8 (talk) 12:05, 7 May 2007 (UTC).

Fair use rationale for Image:Gloria Vanderbilt.jpg

Image:Gloria Vanderbilt.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Article CleanUp.

I will be attempting to clean up this article as much as I can. The phrases I have the most problems with (i.e. violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy) are as follows (the parts I have the most problems with and will change are in italics):

  • "Herself a child bride, the elder Gloria was completely unprepared for the adult responsibilities as a widow of means. She traveled to and from Paris for years, dragging young Gloria with her." - Will no longer refer to Vanderbilt's mother as "the elder Gloria", that just gets confusing in a lot of ways. And I don't see any point in putting in all this stuff about her mother in. Also dislike the term "dragging", will be changing that.
  • "Without a single day of preparation for her inheritance Gloria decided to prove her independence by buying a mink coat and running off to Hollywood where she married agent Pasquale DiCicco..." - Have a problem with the fact that the quote is kind of like a bias (in Vanderbilt's favor) biography, or so to speak. Oh, and she should be referred to by her last name, not her first.
  • "Carter Cooper committed suicide on July 22, 1988, by jumping from the family's 14th floor apartment as his horrified mother watched." - I don't think we need the word "horrified" to know that that is what Vanderbilt was at the time.
  • "Mrs. Cooper believed that.." - The article states her last name as "Vanderbilt" at the beginning. Why is she referred to as "Mrs. Cooper" halfway thorough the article???
  • "(Initially, her involvement in clothing consisted of putting her name (in place of the previous brand name, "Lucky Pierre") on a line" - Grammatical error I'm sure. If I do not correct it rightly (i.e. put the parentheses in the right place). Please feel free to correct it your self.
  • "She lived in Greenwich, Conn." - Is she dead??? (rhetorical question) If so it does not state that in the info box or at the beginning of the article. Nor does it cite a source. And if she did live in that place during a time in her life, doesn't it seem random to put it there. And I checked on IMDB, it does not say she is dead. The quote makes it seem so (with the word "lived). Oh, and she is still part of the living person's category of wikipedia.

In addition to these edits that I have described I will be deleting all the "red links". I will try my best to clean the article up and do not mean to vandalize if that is what it looks like (i.e. if something is poorly worded). Miagirljmw14 Miagirljmw_talk 20:48, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh and also will be delating the quote: "In an interview on Larry King Live, his brother Anderson told of Carter's depression, a recently failed relationship, and fear of the future, suggesting that his brother had not dealt well with the stress, but repeated their mother's story that Carter awoke in a confused stupor before jumping to his death." This is an article about Gloria Vanderbilt, not her son Anderson Cooper Or her other son Carter Cooper. Miagirljmw14 Miagirljmw_talk 20:58, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

I will be removing the clean up tag on November 25, 2008. the reason I am telling about this o the talk page is to see if any one has any objections. If no one has posted I will assume that they do not and will move forward with removing the tag. Miagirljmw14 Miagirljmw_talk 17:14, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm removing the clean up tag as no one seems to have any objections. Miagirljmw14 Miagirljmw_talk 17:08, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Citing info & and archiving talk page.

I will be citing the info in this article (I just need to get the books I ordered from the library, then I can start) and also archiving the talk page. If any one would like to help out that would be nice. Miagirljmw14 Miagirljmw_talk 17:12, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Note; For personal reasons about not being able to acsess a computer all the time, I will not be able to finish all the refrencing in one edit. This is why it would be helpful if some of you help. Miagirljmw14 Miagirljmw~talk 20:42, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
