Gold PeakGold Peak Industries —--Mike Cline (talk) 17:20, 11 November 2010 (UTC) The name Gold Peak should be used as a DAB page for the at least 10 mountain peaks named Gold Peak. Gold Peak Industries already exists as a redirect to Gold Peak. --Mike Cline (talk) 17:20, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the instructions before proposing any more moves, and use subst: in future as requested there and above.

As to this move, I'd suggest a little preparatory work first. We don't seem to have any articles on these 10 mountain peaks. Are any of them deserving of articles? If not, this move is probably pointless. If so, then create stubs for at least two of them, and make sure that sufficient information is in each stub to establish notability, otherwise they risk quick deletion. Then create a DAB page at Gold Peak (disambiguation), and I'd suggest a see also section pointing to Gold Peak Tea and Peak Gold as part of it, so it's at least a little more than a minimal three-way DAB.

It's IMO a waste of everyone's time to even discuss this proposed move until at least some of this preparatory work has been done. If it seems pointless to do it, then that's good evidence that the move proposal is similarly pointless.

But if it seems worth doing, then having done it see WP:NC, and see whether a case for the move can be made in terms of the existing policy. Again, of such a case can't be made, then the move should probably not go ahead, and it's a waste of time even proposing it.

That's unless you can make a case that the existing policy is wrong in this case. Unlikely IMO, but I include the possibility for completeness.

The DAB is going to be useful even if this move fails for other reasons. That's assuming that at least one of these ten mountains does turn out to be notable as implied above. Andrewa (talk) 19:02, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. In that nobody speaks, I've created the DAB and added a hatnote to the article. If any of these at least 10 mountain peaks ever turn up as articles we can revisit the article title then. Meantime, it would be good to add a lead to the article, but moving it is quite pointless. Andrewa (talk) 15:36, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then get consensus to lock it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.14.128.97 (talk) 17:27, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gold Peak trying to censor Wikipedia

[edit]

User:Capasserby obviously registered from a fixed IP in Hong Kong (where the firm's HQ is located) only to tune this article here. He successively deleted most of the content under the heading “Controversy”. He did so in several small bits in order to systematically avoid detection through automated tools. Obviously he accidentally reveals the exactly same IP several times over the course of several months, thereby proving it to be a static IP. A whois query reveals it to be from a Hong Kong IP network provided by CITIC Telecom International CPC Limited.--Kulandru mor (talk) 12:07, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Such problems were noticed earlier:

“Your addition was self-evident spam; statements such as, "GP Batteries supplies an extensive range," "Its extensive array of products," "innovative battery technology" are promotional and utterly inappropriate in an encylcopedia. You also added a direct link to the company's online shop in the article text, which is contrary to Wikipedia's guideline for external links. In addition, it appears from your response that you work for the company, meaning that you have a clear conflict of interest. The text is also a very close paraphrase of this site, and is hence a copyright violation. Please do not add your PR piece back into the article again. Yunshui 雲‍水 09:07, 26 July 2012 (UTC)”
