Hells Angels

[edit]

Good article, but the note on the Hells Angel guy poses more questions than it answers. It just left me wondering why the Hell the Queen would invite Hell's Angels to her Golden Jubilee? Eixo 08:13, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

That was never explained. All that was explained was he was there at the Queen's request. Mike H 15:25, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Merge

[edit]

Comments, please: propose merging short article Golden Jubilee Weekend (GJW) with that section of this article. GJW appears to be just a timetable of events and does not, I think, warrant a separate article. -- FClef 20:50, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected the Weekend article here: most of its contents actually in this article. Cwolfsheep 02:14, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Establishment of cities

[edit]

Apparently, as a part of her Golden Jubilee celebrations the Queen 'awarded' five settlements of the UK city status. I am aware that amongst these was Stirling, but does anyone know the others, and could they add these to the article? --Neil (talk) 18:33, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jubilee Odyssey cost & sentence structure

[edit]

User:TomGreen has claimed that the cost of the Jubilee Odyssey roller coaster is relevant to Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee. I fail to understand how he comes to that conclusion; perhaps he could explain his thinking.

I'm also unconvinced that the sentences describing the park at Windsor and the roller coaster need to be separated by a period rather than a comma. Both are constructions named to mark the jubilee and this is not Simple English Wikipedia. --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 14:50, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive me, but it is a completely different kind of structure. I simply cannot see how it can be included in a sentence relating to something completely different. A full stop to separate would be more acceptable, but the correct action would be to have it on another line/paragraph. With regards to the cost, £28m, it is a huge figure and huge gesture towards the Jubilee celebrations. It is almost twice construction cost of any other roller coaster ever built in the UK. Tom Green (talk) 14:07, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is a different kind of structure, but it's a monument, of sorts, nonetheless. As to the cost: was that money invested by a private entity specifically to honour the jubilee? Or was the coaster going to be built anyway and was named for the jubilee because the opening of the coaster coincided with the jubilee year? --Ħ MIESIANIACAL 16:12, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

guardian?

[edit]

Why are half the reference links to the Guardian newspaper?

The Guardian always has left learning / republican stories going on. It makes it seem like the Golden Jubliee was a complete flop in many countries when in reality it was actually rather good. I can pick any news story to side with my writing agenda, doesn't mean it's accurate / un-bias. I just feel this article has fallen into that trap a little. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.200.147.91 (talk) 12:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
