Population[edit]

'There are currently four households on Gometra' but a population of 2 (n 2013 in infobox) - how does that work? Perhaps a referenced update? Geopersona (talk) 18:13, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As referenced the figure 2 is taken from the 2011 census. http://www.gometra.org/faq.html (written in 2015 by one resident) talks about 2 properties occupied full time and 3 others at times. The History page of the same website states that 5 full time residents have been "lost" since Easter 2013. It is encouraging and worthy of a mention in the article that there has been some increase since 2015 (but we need a published source). I think the infobox should remain consistent across the Scottish Islands and be updated with the next census figure. Finavon (talk) 22:40, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Roc Sandford, whose children figure currently in the HS2 protest [1], lives on Gometra for part of the year. I’ve added that to the article sourced to a 2019 Scotsman article. He’s on his own apparently. The Scotsman article says the he, with help “from a neighbouring family farms a flock of 350 sheep”. So that’s one other household accounted for. The population of 2 doesn’t really fit. DeCausa (talk) 20:59, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just watched the Stacey Dooley documentary/tv show, and they said that seven people live on Gometra (Roc Sandford, his two daughters and his son, plus "another family of three and a solitary sheep farmer also inhabit the two mile square island".49.199.208.2 (talk)
