Czech poem as source?
[edit]According to the article, "In 1853, English hymnwriter John Mason Neale translated the lyric from a Czech poem by Václav Alois Svoboda." This line appears to have been added in December 2022 by a Wikipedia editor, in good faith, apparently on the basis of their private research. While the poem and the carol plainly rely on the same legend for their material, I am not so sure it follows that Neale directly translated the poem. Are there any reliable secondary sources which support this claimed dependence? 31.94.69.18 (talk) 13:08, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hmm, no doesn't look right does it - the lyrics are essentially a poem version of this book for children. Might remove that. Rob (talk) 14:51, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
