This article is about a significant high school athletic event held over several decades in Detroit, Michigan. Literally millions of people followed these games. However there is no comprehensive account of all of these games, played over a 30-year period. It is important that the history of these game be preserved.

This article took many weeks to prepare and it is one of the most comprehensive accounts of these games. I urge you NOT to delete this article. If there is something that is questionable in your mind about the article, I would appreciate addressing that specific issue or issues.
