Origin of names[edit]

Games Workshop seems to be quite fond of making in-jokes and cultural references in many of their products. Could it be that the god Mork is named after the character of the same name (who came from the Planet Ork) in Mork and Mindy? —This unsigned comment was added by Wardog (talkcontribs) .

It's not entirely unbelievable, but we need some citations before we can include it in Wikipedia. Cheers --Pak21 18:42, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Now while this is unsubstantiated, I wonder if Gork and Mork from Warhammer aren't perhaps based on Gog and Magog, at least in name and in the basic concept of duality? Just something to consider, though I haven't seen anything to back it up; it seems somewhat plausible. --PheonixSong 17:01, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GW tend to use real religions to base their religions / gods on. See the Elves / Eldar and their gods with some of the celtic gods, they even sound alike. As such it seems that if anything Gog and Magog would be far more likely. I have never heard that Gork and Mork were an "in joke" about Mork and Mindy.
