Opinion verses facts

[edit]

Paragraphs 2, 3 and 4 of the Overview seem to consist largely of opinion, and not based on fact; the north south pipeline is subject of controversy in the region, esp. in state politics, and the Murray Darling Basin is subject to national political controversy with regard to riparine rights and release of waters. * The Murray Darling, whilst related, is largely a peripheral issue with respect to the Goulburn River.--Whiteguru (talk) 00:43, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The section heading has today been changed from Overview to River quality. The section has been tagged {{ref improve}}. Please help if you can. Thanks. Rangasyd (talk) 08:47, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Goulburn River (Victoria)Goulburn River – The Victorian river is clearly the primary topic - longest river of Victoria, passes through major agricultural area etc. Readers looking for the NSW river will still only require one click—through a hat-note—to reach their article. Mattinbgn (talk) 22:34, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't understand your grounds for objection. It is not about "belittling" and has little to do with "importance". WP:PRIMARYTOPIC states: "A topic is primary for a term, with respect to usage, if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term." This is the case here, is it not?. There is no proposal to change the article title for the NSW river—which will remain at Goulburn River (New South Wales)—and it will remain one click away from the common name, just through a hatnote rather than a disambiguation page. The NSW river's status is untouched. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 06:10, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
