Proposed merge[edit]

I propose that this article be merged into Central Business District (Miami). This article is about the city district, yet I can't find any sources that note Government Center as a "district"; most sources about "Government Center" refer to either the Metro station or the Stephen P. Clark Government Center building. The Miami Downtown Development Authority only notes three districts[1], and the supposed "Government Center" district is part of the CBD. –Dream out loud (talk) 07:44, 17 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I softly oppose the merge. The district signs that were erected all over the downtown area districts in the 90s I believe indicate that G Center is a unique governmental civic center in the greater CBD. From the 20s to the present, government offices are built here from the historic Miami-Dade County Courthouse to the 1980s Government Center building, station, and cultural center, to the new Police Training Academy, carparks and new county business tax receipt office built in the 2010s.
