Deletion[edit]

I deleted:

  • 1536 - 1551 Peder Hansen Litle
  • 1551 - 1556 Jesper Friis and
  • 1556 - 1572 Christiern Munk.

NO references could be found supporting their holding that role. Numerous references indicate otherwise. Further, the Norwegian interwiki shows Povel Huitfeldt as first — yes I know interwiki is not a references — but it is a pretty good clue as to where to look.

I'd support a referenced restoration, but will be impressed if you find one.

Move proposed[edit]

I propose moving the article titled Governor-general of Norway to Statholder of Norway or, if that is objectionable, to Governor General of Norway. The basis for this move is that there is published material showing three terms: ”Statholder”, “Viceroy” or “Governor General”, are accepted English terms in academic references, while "Governor-general of Norway" appears nowhere in English language print. Viceroy is a generic term, hardly specific to Norway, and should not be used. ”Statholder” is specific to Norway, risking no ambiguity. A survey of usages follows:

"Governor-General" is used in an official Norwegian source here. But it seems "Stat(t)holder" is the more common term so I agree with your proposal. 96T (talk) 13:20, 14 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
