Removed WP:PROD tag per Wikipedia's Notability Guidelines for churches. If only by virtue of the fact that its pastor is an internationally known theologian, speaker on a worldwide radio broadcast, author of dozens of books, and spokesperson for conservative evangelical Christianity, this church of more than 10,000 in attendance weekly is notable. deletion of Anti-Catholicism[edit]

there should be talk in this section before a whole section is deleted

The section looked like it had been worked into a statement regarding the teaching of the church. It seemed inappropriately long prior to the edits, and was an exact duplicate of the (equally long) section on the John MacArthur article. It really doesn't need to be on this page, since it is not documented anywhere as a position of the church, but rather is something that is espoused by their pastor. However, since he is so closely associated with the church, it makes sense to have a brief mention of it on this article. In addition, the section is way too lengthy for even the John MacArthur article. Imagine if there were a section of quotes for every unpopular or unusual theological position that he holds. Calling Catholicism a satanic system that wants to engulf the earth is a opinion that is more than "unusual".

However, note please that this is a quote from John MacArthur, not an official position of the church. So this article should focus on positions and views espoused by the church, which need to be backed up by reliable sources, such as their website or other news articles, not content from his sermons (which may or may not even have been delivered at or to the church). Removed two references[edit]

I've removed two references. One was an online newspaper archive that had two sentences from the Reverend MacArthur. The interview was conducted by John Dart on March 1995 for the Metro section of the LA Times. I've removed the ref because you have to pay to access the full newspaper article. That means the few words attributed to MacArthur are out of context. IMO a headline and a quote does not make a "checkable reference". If someone has access to the full interview then please provide the correct link so that future editors can read the whole interview.

The other reference concerned a court case where a member of the congregation committed suicide. The family of the man took the church to court on the charge of (my words) wilful neglect due to the unqualified counselling given to the deceased. The judge ruled that the Grace Community Church had no case to answer. I'm not an expert on the law or this case and I personally feel as though the reference was there to state "the Grace Community church meddles in amateur psychology and this is the bad result". The inclusion of this court case has to have the judges final verdict and must also contain a bit more depth including names and dates of those involved. References that "hint" are not references at all. A reference that is open to interpretation is really a "question" designed to elicit a response from the reader.

I've written that this is a Protestant church. Non-denominational thought has its roots in the Protestant movement. If you disagree then please remove the protestant details and rewrite as you wish.

Views on Islam[edit]

I removed this. There was a quote saying MacArthur said "the theology of Islam is false". I suppose it's distinctive that MacArthur is blunt enough to spell it out, but I don't know many churches who would say the theology of Islam is correct (or many Muslim leaders who would endorse key Christian theological ideas like the Trinity, for instance). Use of “whackers” to discipline children[edit]

This article goes into some deal about GCC promoting the use of a device for corporally punishing children, and giving them instructions on how to buy one.
