@Zingarese: could you point me at the guideline that says that all compositions by independently notable classical musicians are notable? I don't see anything about classical music compositions in WP:NMUSIC, and the classical music essay mentions recordings but not compositions, and even seems to directly imply that works are expected to meet GNG in a style section where it says "==Reception==". If the intro hasn't done so already, this is the part where it should become clear that the article conforms to WP:GNG/WP:Notability (music).
