Anachronism

[edit]

"Following the establishment, Kellner von Zinnendorf was anxious to get on good terms with the Grand Lodge in London. On 30 November 1773 an official letter of recognition arrived from London, to the effect that the Grand Landlodge was recognized as the sole Grand Lodge of the German Empire and was thus regarded as an equal by the Grand Lodge in London."

As the German Empire was founded almost 100 years later, in 1871 (which becomes obvious if you follow the hyperlink provided), the letter of 1773 mentioned in the paragraph can only have recognized the Grosse Landesloge as "the sole Grand Lodge of the [Holy Roman] Empire [of the German Nation]. Thanks for that. The offending paragraph appears to be a translation from the article in de:Wikipedia.
Deutschen Kaiserreichs? For what it's worth, this in turn seems to be an attempt to translate Gould's Concise History of Freemasonry from English into German. Fiddlersmouth (talk) 23:12, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
