Wiki Education assignment: ENGL 273 - Children's Literature[edit]

This article was the subject of a Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment, between 13 January 2022 and 14 May 2022. Further details are available on the course page. Student editor(s): Evr909 (article contribs).

I plan on revising and adding to this article over the next couple of weeks. My first step will be to add new sections to the article: I came up with "Background," "Cultural Impact," and "Reception," and I am open to any suggestions! The "Background" section will cover the context of the author's career as an author and illustrator, as well as discuss important information about the subject of the book, the author's grandfather. I plan for the "Cultural Impact" section to follow the "Plot" section currently in the article, and this section will include scholarly citations that discuss topics such as the impact of Asian American Children's Literature such as "Grandfather's Journey" on aspects such as education and how books either challenge or reinforce common stereotypes and tropes. Lastly, I plan for the "Reception" section to mention various book reviews and interviews that discuss the book's authorship and illustrations.
